Synonymous with quality and service, Salop Design and Engineering is one of the leading manufacturers of pressings and assemblies in the UK.
Established over 50 years ago, all of its manufacturing activities are now produced out of its modern, purpose built factory situated on the outskirts of Shrewsbury.
With up to 100 members of highly qualified staff, Salop Design are well equipped with a wide variety of press types and specifications. Their site makes use of 24 mechanical / progression / transfer / hydraulic presses ranging from 110 tonne to 630 tonne. This enables them to cover an extensive range of tonnages and capacities including both manual and fully automated robotic transfer systems. All aspects of presswork are undertaken, including hydraulic deep draw presswork. Secondary assembly and welding processes are also readily available.
Sister company, Salop Haulage Ltd, also operate from their depot which is situated onsite, to cover all of Salop Design and Engineering Ltd’s haulage requirements.
Starting out as a design office to serve local industry in 1960, mainly designing press tools for automotive manufacturing companies Salop Design and Engineering Ltd evolved into manufacturing tools it had designed after considerable investment and changes in market conditions. In 1996 the new factory was constructed and then further extended in 2004 to 8000 square metres.
In more recent years due to customer demand, the firm started producing metal pressings and assemblies as well as various other welded components. Currently, the company has an annual turnover of 16 million Euro.
Salop Design operate in the following sectors: automotive, domestic appliances (white goods), construction (yellow goods), household fittings (quality finishings), Ministry of Defence (MOD) and camping and leisure.
The company is also successfully expanding its customer base in the information technology and defence markets.
Salop Design and Engineering Ltd is accredited with the quality standard TS16949.
